This 8-year-old has done something unimaginable. This cute little girl is the youngest recipient of the national bravery award among 24 other kids. She received the coveted award for saving her grandmothers life.
Mhonbeni Ezung, a Nagaland resident, was visiting her maternal grandmother, in Chudi village in Wokha district, on January 28th, 2014. Her then 78-year-old grandmother Renthunglo Jungi took her out for fishing to the Aunga Hayi stream when she suffered cramps followed by a stroke and fell down.
The little girl showed immense courage and ran back, about four to five kilometer distance, through thick forests all alone, to get immediate help. Mhonbeni saved her grandmother’s life, who was rushed to Sanis PHC and later shifted to Dimapur.
Mhonbeni’s quick wit helped save a life. When asked what gave her such courage, Mhonbeni said that it was the love and concern for her grandmother that gave her the strength.
